DevOps, Containers and Cloud Native Theatre
Many companies might be in some stage of their modernization journey and to achieve this they might be setting up Platform Teams or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams. Historically these teams or practices never existed in some companies or it existed in some shape or form. In most of the cases both platform engineering and site reliability engineering were operational in nature where many decisions were tactical in nature without much insight into the problem and seldom they were strategic.
Since a modern platform and a proactive approach towards reliability defines the paths for a modern application hence these can’t be afterthought. One can not build a modern application with best of breed microservices based architecture without a robust platform & without a mature reliability engineering practice. A modern cloud native platform augmented with a mature SRE practice serves as a foundation for modern applications hence an effective platform & SRE strategy is key factors in an organization’s modernization journey.
In this session we will talk about our experience in executing large scale application modernization projects with key emphasis on Platform Strategy and SRE strategy. We will shed light on the key items like Developer Productivity and Experience using VMware Tanzu as a standard operating model, Class Incident Management vs SRE and also talk about how Platform and SRE projects should be run the right way!
