Red Teaming – Strategic, Tactical and Operational cyber war-gaming
With the rapid growth of cyber threats, red teaming exercises – simulated cyber-attacks designed to test the ability of an organisation to protect its crown jewels – are increasingly being run to ensure organisations can adequately combat the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP’s) employed by Advanced Persistent Threats (APT’s). With technical cyber defences becoming increasingly difficult to penetrate, and with the digital systems used by organisations becoming increasingly interconnected, APTs increasingly use social engineering to bypass many technical defences organisations have implemented – this has been the cause of several recent high-profile data breaches. As such, red teaming exercises are constantly updated to ensure organisations can adequately resist cyber-attacks using the latest known APT TTP’s.
This talk will introduce how red teams perform their attack path analyses to create in-depth scenarios, allowing the organisation to gain valuable insights into further attack detection and prevention methods.
