Benjamin Ang is a Senior Fellow at the Center of Excellence for National Security (CENS), S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He leads the Cyber Homeland Defence Programme of CENS, a team that examines the impact of developments in cyber, digital, and information communication technologies, on the national security of Singapore. At the international level, this includes cyber norms, confidence building measures, and information warfare; at the national level, this includes smart nation security, influence operations, and legislation; and at the individual level this includes the impact of big data, social media targeting, artificial intelligence, and behavioural sciences in security. He draws on varied experiences as a litigation lawyer in one of Singapore’s largest firms, CIO in a multinational professional services firm, legal counsel in media and technology companies, law lecturer, and as a technology consultant.
