Tzer Yeu leads cybersecurity in Mediacorp, Singapore’s largest media and entertainment group that also serves as the national broadcaster, and a national Critical Information Infrastructure (CII). Prior to joining Mediacorp, he served in the Singapore Armed Forces for twenty-five years as a Guards and Signals Officer in several command and staff appointments. Tzer Yeu headed the Architecture and Governance Office in Joint C4 and Operations in Army Signals. He also served in Kabul, Afghanistan at the Headquarters of International Security Assistance Force. Tzer Yeu’s final appointment was Director (Plans) in MINDEF’s Defence Cyber Organisation, where he oversaw cybersecurity capability development for the defence sector. Tzer Yeu is a strong believer that security and productivity is not necessarily exclusive. A good balance can be achieved through a defensible cybersecurity strategy that is grounded on quantified, threat-based risks. The desired security outcomes can be achieved through close partnership between security and tech teams, as well as with industry partners and regulators. Tzer Yeu graduated from Imperial College, London with an M’Eng in Mechanical Engineering (with a year in Ecole Centrale de Lyon). He also holds an MBA from Nanyang Business School. He received military training in Singapore and with the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
